Shared Moments

Memories of Marcus

A collection of shared moments, laughter, and the lasting impact Marcus had on everyone he met. These stories represent the legacy of a man who lived with purpose and kindness.

Please take some time and look back at some of the special moments, and people, that shaped Marcus into the man he grew to be. It truly takes a village to raise a child, and Marcus reflected all of the love he was shown. He taught so many that it is not how long you live, but the quality of life you enjoy.

Memories: Riding our bikes together; going trick-or-treating at Halloween; shooting baskets in the driveway; going to church on Sundays; skiing the slopes at Big Bear; fishing; touring Washington, D.C.; flying kites together at the park; going to the drive-in movies; making the den bed; decorating the house for Christmas; and his favorite event...the fireworks on 4th of July.

Marcus was the spark-plug of our family. His excitement and enthusiasm for whatever he did was contagious. He always lived life to the fullest, and that continued as he got older and began playing football. UCLA was a great experience for Marcus that he thoroughly enjoyed. I can remember him calling me so excited to get his first start at cornerback. That excitement continued to swell when Steve Harvey came to campus and interviewed Marcus live on the radio, we almost jumped through the roof.

He had a way of making us all appreciate our lives a little more; often vicariously through the things he accomplished. As a son, he had much love and respect for his mother. As a brother, he always made time for Jason, and set a good example for him to follow. And as my oldest son, I could always depend on him to be an extension of me within our family, and have my back.

We will always miss him, and we will never forget him. Thank God for the 23 years he allowed Marcus to be a part in our lives.
